Mariela Destéfano PhD

I am a Doctor in Philosophy focused on issues in philosophy of mind, psychology and cognitive science. My primary interest is to understand how the mind works. My research is centered on mental representation, language processing, cognitive architecture, and the relation between psychological explanation and the growing field of neurosciences. I have studied the distinction between conceptual and non-conceptual representations and worked on the possibility that language processing operates on conceptual representations. I also have addressed the question about the vehicle of linguistic representations and the nature of general domain mechanisms such as structural alignment. My recent research focuses on the brain basis of syntactic recursion.
